Hattah Lakes come to life - "Just Add Water" campaign a huge success!
The water has arrived (and is still coming!). The Australian Conservation Foundation "Just Add Water" campaign has been a huge success and is literally pumping life back into the Hattah Lakes National Park. A huge pump located at the junction between the Murray River and Chalka Creek has been in full operation now for over a month and will keep pumping until the end of July delivering 400 million litres of water into the lakes system thanks to the generosity of the campaign supporters.
Wild Side Outdoors made a significant donation understanding the need to get some water into the lakes. There will be enough water to fill seven of the lakes including Lakes Hattah, Little Hattah, Lockie, Mournpall, Konardin, Yerang and Yelwell. We have spent several days walking and paddling the area over the past few weeks and have witnessed the water filling the lakes first hand. At our last visit (June 3), water had filled Lakes Hattah, Little Hattah and Lockie so it won't be long before it begins to head north into Lakes Yerang
, Mounrpall, Konardin and Yelwell.
The campaign has been a great success so well done to all involved!
